CHEERS TO 2018!

I can't believe that people are actually going to gather around at Time Square tonight.  They are crazy!  It is so stinking cold out, not to mention the wind gusts.  Single digit temps are expected this evening in eastern NY.  Besides, for security purposes, no backpacks are allowed in that particular vicinity, which means no way to pack extra items to keep you warm.  No thank you!  I will be ringing in the New Year gathering at the warm and cozy home of some very dear friends who live close by.

And, this is how I'm doing it in a crafty way.....

.... with a little feature in Stampington & Co's Jewelry Affaire 2018 winter issue!

Here's a little peak at one of a few things that made it into this issue.

And here are a few pieces that are not in the magazine, but do you see the weathered, chippy-finish theme going on here?

I also whipped up a few more scrappy little fabric coasters.  I love making these because the less finished and more imperfect they come out, the cuter they are.  It's a quick and easy way to use up surplus fabric pieces.

Anyway, cheers to 2018, whether you're freezing your tootsies off or basking in hot, sunny weather.

  1. This evening, we decided to watch the Pickle Drop in Mt. Olive, NC from here in the comfort of our warm home. We had been to the Pickle Drop one year and thought it was the greatest thing ever. Mt. Olive is the town where Mt. Olive pickles are made. They decided to celebrate New Year's Eve by dropping a giant pickle from a pole at midnight Greenwich Mean Time. And, since they are 5 time zones away, that happens at 7 pm EST. It's a great time for the families. If you bring something for the food bank, you get a ticket to their raffle. They also pass out hot cider and dill pickles. Not a great combination, so eat one then the other! By about 7:30 it's all over and families can get back home early enough to watch the ball drop in NYC. It isn't a large affair, as you would imagine, but it is silly-fun for all who attend.

Best wishes to you in the new year!

  2. What a festive and amusing way for Mt Olive to usher in the New Year! Cider and pickles doesn't sound that awful a combination, as does pickles and ice cream.
