LIFE IS A GARDEN; ENJOY THE STROLL.

THE LITTLE PLANT THAT COULD......

.......that still can, and that will.  I'm talking about Oxalis vulcanicola 'Zinfandel' (volcanic sorrel).  It really should be nominated as the 'New Black' in the container planting world.

Is it new?  Nope.  Is it hard to find?  Nope.  Is it a nuisance, invasive or otherwise frowned upon?  Nope.  Nope.  Nope.  But, let me tell you what this little one is and does -
  • a non-stop annual filler and spiller in container planting ensembles
  • the perfect soloist in small pots
  • overwinters on a sunny windowsill without trouble
  • give it a trim and it will grow right back
  • has a chameleon-like characteristic depending upon what other plants you pair it up with or whether it is planted in full or partial sun
  • 'super easy care' is it's middle name
I overwintered this one near my living room's west facing window, trimmed it back three times(to save space), and am ready to prepare it for outdoor life again.  Give it a try and you won't be disappointed!
